Houston AIA Honor Award 2003

New housing prototypes for the Texas Department of Mental Health & Mental Retardation's Richmond State School campus are designed to provide a sense of dignity, communal belonging and individual privacy to patients who are unable to function without extreme assistance. Clusters of units are oriented to maximize views toward a bosque of trees creating a protected outdoor sanctum. North facing light monitors provide filtered natural light to the public center of each unit.
