JOHN J. CASBARIAN, FAIA
John J. Casbarian received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the California Institute of the Arts, and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Rice University, where he was an M. N. Davidson and Featherlite Fellow. He worked for Gruen Associates, in Los Angeles, under Cesar Pelli and at Works West with Craig Hodgetts. He is dean emeritus, Harry K. and Albert K. Smith Professor, and director of External Programs at the Rice School of Architecture. From 1997 until 2009 he was the School's associate dean. In 2002 he founded and continues to direct the Rice School of Architecture Paris program. He was interim dean from 2019 to 2021. He holds NCARB certification and is registered in Texas, Louisiana, Indiana, Kansas and Florida.
DANNY M. SAMUELS, FAIA
Danny M. Samuels received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Rice University, where he is currently a Professor in Practice and founding director of the Rice Building Workshop, now renamed CONSTRUCT. Previously, he held the Visiting Smith Chair at the same institution. He worked for Kevin Roche and Guillermo Julian de la Fuente in Paris, (successor to Le Corbusier’s unfinished work). His photographs have been recognized in exhibits and publications, and are part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. He is a registered architect in Texas.
