The design for a 60,000 square foot program organizes both interior and exterior public functions along a linear street. Evoking the London shopping arcades, the street is modulated by bay windows and pavilions which mark the intersection of separate wings. Playing fields and gardens are extensions of this system. Clad in red brick and white polished concrete block, the banded pattern provides a variety of scale references for all the children.
